Episcopal Young Christians (EYC)

Journey to Adulthood (J2A)

Sunday mornings from 10 am to 12:15 pm.   Journey to Adulthood (J2A) meets in the Youth Room.  Teens gather with their leaders for worship and study during the 10 am service.  They move into the church for Holy Communion.  Following the service, they join their Youth Leaders again for food, fellowship, Christian formation and fun.

Grades Seven through Twelve
Journey to Adulthood (J2A) is a dynamic approach that nurtures and supports young people in their understanding of the Christian Faith.  Teens are invited to share their thoughts, ideas, opinions and views while using the Bible, worship, Christian resources, along with their own life experience to enhance and support discussion of aspects of faith and belief.  Social and service activities outside of their Sunday morning meetings with parents and other adult members of the parish are planned throughout the year.

2007 Annual Report

In the Summer of 2007, Josh and Darcie Larkey were very excited to be asked to lead the group.  Along with new leaders, St. Michael’s adopted a new curriculum called Journey to Adulthood in the Fall, which focuses on exploring God’s call toward adulthood and the skills needed to become an adult.  We also changed our meeting time to 10:00 A.M. to allow the group to attend services together and to also serve as acolytes.

This past year, the J2A group members were very active and committed (with the help of their parents) to our community and congregation.  They attended the Crop Walk, sponsored a gift to a less fortunate teenager during Christmas, ran a Café during the Arts and Craft Faire, and with the help of the JYG, presented a delicious and highly attended Baked Potato Supper.

As we begin a new year, we are looking forward to continual spiritual growth as a group, and exploring new opportunities for fellowship, fun, and service.
