Eucharistic Visitors
2007 Annual Report
If you have ever walked to the sacristy of our church, you may have noticed all the framed licenses on the wall. These licenses are for all the lay ministers of our church. All Eucharistic Visitors are licensed by the diocese. We are authorized to carry the Eucharist (bread & wine) directly after church on Sunday or Wednesday to church members who are unable to attend because of illness or any adversity. We actually lead a short service in the home. It is meant to connect the shut-in with the congregation at large. This function of lay people dates back to the early Christians of the first century. We are given our assignments by the clergy and we operate solely at their discretion. Currently, there are six active Eucharistic Visitors at St. Michael’s: Mary Ellen Ferguson, Penny Frampton, Cheryl Hammond, Paul Hauck, Harry Hills and Skip Metcalf. We stand ready to serve you at a moment’s notice.
