Blood Bank

2007 Annual Report

Two blood drives were held this year, one in May and one in October.  While this is one of the most meaningful outreach opportunities we have at St. Michael’s, it has suffered for lack of support.  The Blood Source requires a minimum of 20 sign-ups in order to make it worthwhile to schedule their workers and bring the equipment to St. Michael’s on a Sunday morning.

We made the minimum in May with 20 donors, but were short in October.  We ended the morning with 19 participants, but we began with only 12 sign-ups.  We cannot continue this important ministry without more dedicated support.

We are moving this outreach opportunity under the auspices of Mercy & Social Justice Ministries in 2008.  As part of a larger committee, and in the context of the overall outreach ministries of St. Michael’s Parish, we are hoping for more support and enthusiasm so that we can continue to make the Blood Drive available on-site.
